One of the greatest obstacles in my attempt to gain self confidence has been my skin. I never had acne as a teen, it was only once I turned 20 did the break outs start. And man, did I have some have some epic pimples. Like, want-to-stay-at-home-and-never-see-the-world-again type acne. Yes, that’s a little dramatic, but having adult acne can truly be a struggle and made it nearly impossible for me to feel a shred of self-esteem.
After hearing a podcast on nutrition and the effects on the endocrine system I decided to start eating foods that would balance hormones and reduce hormonal shifts. This meant higher fats, lowering my sugar intake, avoiding hormone disrupting chemicals and foods that cause shifts like flax, soy, dairy, and even grapefruit.
I have been using natural skin care products for a few years to avoid all the chemicals found in most products. But once I made this change in diet I noticed a huge chance in my skin. While I still am acne-prone I now get a fraction of the blemishes I dealt with in the past.
This recipe is loaded with all my favorite ingredients that are also perfect to get glowing skin from nutrition! Plus it’s just crazy tasty. You can use it as a dip (like an upgraded guacamole) or top off a salad.
